Overview
We are seeking an experienced Ranch Manager or Ranch Couple to oversee the daily operations of a large, rural ranch in Dubois, Wyoming. This is a unique opportunity to live and work in a remote and stunning location, ensuring the property is maintained to the highest standards while providing exceptional hospitality when the principals are in residence.
The ideal candidate(s) will bring a proven track record of ranch management, technical expertise with heavy equipment, strong leadership, and the ability to thrive in a remote environment. This role blends operational excellence with a high standard of service and discretion.
In a couple placement, the spouse of the Ranch Manager would take primary responsibility for the cleaning and upkeep of interior buildings and general housekeeping duties, ensuring all spaces are comfortable, well-maintained, and guest-ready at all times.

Key Responsibilities
Ranch Operations & Equipment Management
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (road grader, tractor, backhoe, etc.).
- Maintain and repair ranch roads, fencing, and infrastructure.
- Implement land management practices in collaboration with the Conservation Manager, including erosion control and river/stream maintenance.
- Oversee and coordinate construction, renovation, and maintenance projects.
- Care for ranch animals (horses, bison, etc.), including feeding and general upkeep.
Hospitality & Principal Support
- Ensure all ranch buildings and guest accommodations are clean, well-maintained, and fully stocked.
- Prepare the ranch for principal visits, including coordinating staff and vendors.
- Provide seamless, discreet hospitality services to principals and their guests.
- Collaborate with household staff and external service providers to ensure smooth operations.
Leadership & Communication
- Supervise and work alongside housekeepers, ranch hands, contractors, and service providers.
- Create a collaborative, positive work environment with professionalism and discretion.
- Keep principals informed on operations, projects, and issues requiring attention.
- Maintain strong vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring timely and high-quality results.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in ranch management or a comparable role (rural/remote experience strongly preferred).
- Proven ability to operate heavy equipment: grading roads, excavation, snow removal, fencing, etc.
- Strong understanding of land, animal, and property management.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
- Ability to balance operational duties with high-level hospitality and service.
- Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
- Leadership skills with proven staff and vendor management experience.
- Hands-on, self-sufficient, and comfortable working in a remote setting.
- Physically capable of performing daily tasks, including standing for long periods, pulling, pushing, and lifting as required
Additional Requirements
- Ability to perform physical duties of the role daily.

Compensation & Benefits
- $80,000-$100,000+ annually

The principals use the property occasionally, and while visits require high-touch hospitality, day-to-day operations focus on maintenance, land management, and preservation.
