Overview

A kind and generous family with a residence in Washington, DC has an immediate need for a skilled, part-time Property Manager to join their team. The hired candidate will ensure that the family’s home is impeccably maintained and “guest ready” at all times, and will provide responsive support when the family or guests are in residence. This is a second home for the family, so the focus of the position is on maintaining the home to ensure property readiness and smooth, efficient household operations.

 

Preferred candidates will have experience working for private families or in luxury hotel settings, be detail-focused, a self-starter, and a great communicator. While the position will allow for a flexible work schedule, the family will request that the hired candidate be available to work more hours when they are in residence. 

Please note: this is a hands-on private Property Manager position that requires practical knowledge of luxury household systems and trade-related work. Candidates should have direct experience managing and maintaining private residences.

This role is not suited for those whose experience is primarily in administrative or operational oversight of commercial properties or apartment complexes.

 

-       Part-time: 20-30 hours per week 

-       Schedule: 2-3 days per week, with flexibility to work more as needed

-       Live-out: No living accommodations will be provided

Responsibilities 

  • Oversee all operational and maintenance aspects of a residential home – approximately 4,500 square feet
  • Perform regular walk-through inspections of the property to ensure that the home is secure, that all systems are functioning properly, and that interior and exterior areas of the residence are in perfect order
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all household operations
  • Schedule and oversee vendors for interior and exterior maintenance
  • Ensure that the property is “guest ready” at all times
  • Prepare for family arrival and perform closing procedures upon departure
  • Support the family as needed when in residence
  • Prepare for the arrival of guests who frequent the home and perform closing procedures upon departure
  • Oversee and understand the operation of all home systems, including HVAC, electrical, audio/visual, plumbing, lighting, alarm/security, intercom/telephone, and entertainment
  • Perform and/or supervise preventative maintenance on home systems
  • Maintain instruction files, manuals, warranties and a schedule for home maintenance and seasonal projects
  • Maintain vendor lists and emergency contacts for all systems and equipment
  • Supervise subcontractors for household projects, renovations and repairs
  • Purchase household goods and maintain inventory of supplies
  • Accountable for vehicle cleaning, fueling, and maintenance
  • Maintain cleanliness of exterior of home and property
  • Change light bulbs and maintain light fixtures throughout the property
  • Accountable for maintenance and upkeep of recreational equipment
  • Assist with household errands on occasion
  • Submit weekly status reports and run all budget-related items by Director of Residences before proceeding with projects
  • Coordinate response to security incidents as needed
  • Perform various other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 5+ years of prior experience in luxury residential estate | property management - this is a hands-on role!
  • Must be local to the Washington, DC area 
  • Able to work legally in the United States, with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Professional with a positive and easy-going attitude
  • Trustworthy and dependable
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Discreet and mindful of principals’ privacy
  • Able to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with the family, guests, and outside vendors/contractors 
  • Tech savvy – have a working knowledge of home systems and the ability to troubleshoot issues and perform basic repairs
  • Ability to self-direct and problem-solve
  • Ability to supervise others
  • Skilled tradesmen experience a plus
  • Physically able to perform the duties of the position
  • Long-term intent
  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds without assistance
  • Must be able to pass an in-depth background check
  • Must have strong employment references

Compensation

  • Up to $100,000 per year in total compensation; healthcare benefits negotiable
