Facilities Engineer

 

Position Summary: Assist Estate Manager and Director of Facilities in building and systems management while maintaining existing assets to the highest aesthetic and performance standards.  Ensures a uniform and consistent product delivery at various locations.  Communicates directly with internal departments, as well as vendors, concerning project needs.  Provides guidance in a variety of facility field concepts, practices, and procedures. 

 

$40/hr - $50/hr

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Partner with House Manager, Estate Manager and Facilities Director to meet objectives
  • Partner with team members to provide complete facility systems support
  • Help manage all building systems, fixtures, special finishes and oversee contract supervisors to meet project objectives
  • Assist Estate and Facilities Managers in achieving a high level of service, detail and performance standards – with a focus in HVAC, Networking, Lutron and Audio/Video – in a commercial grade building in a museum type environment
  • Perform daily, weekly inspections of property to ensure all systems and aesthetics are in optimal conditions at all times.
  • Coordinate and support all aspects of maintenance and service on control and HVAC, lighting, and shade systems.
  • Coordinate with IT department to support all aspects of maintenance and service on video, PC and networked systems.
  • Oversee current facility related systems to a higher level of operational ease and sophistication by integration with new technology processes. This includes design, implementation and ongoing support.
  • Oversee contractor process; proposals, project/plan design, project work/completion, relationship management, safety, etc.
  • Coordinate the protection, handling and care of Art and luxury finishes and accessories.
  • Ensure quality issues are identified and reported to the appropriate department and are rectified.
  • Facilitate building system upgrades which may include design, programming, testing, commissioning, operation, maintenance and repair.
  • Advise the Estate Manager & Facilities Manager on budget preparation, program changes, goal establishments and short/long range planning.
  • On-call responsibility that requires immediate response to facility related needs.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with all relevant OSHA safety regulations for all facility personnel.

 

Essential skills and experience: 

  • College degree in facilities management, engineering, or related field and 5 years of Facilities experience; or any combination of education, licensing, specialized training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Excellent knowledge of HVAC, MEP, Lighting and/or automation control systems, and other equipment associated with commercial grade buildings.
  • Intermediate understanding of Information Technology, Networking, and Audio/Video.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills; positive attitude
  • Experience in level 5 finishes and/or working in 5-star hotel or museum atmosphere.
  • Excellent knowledge of general office procedures; as well as intermediate knowledge of smart phone and computer skills
  • Excellent time management skills: ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects with available resources
  • Keen attention to detail, honesty, adaptability, dependability, and a willingness to do hands-on work
  • Ability to maintain a high level of strict confidentiality and professionalism
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record

 

Valued but not required skills and experience: 

  • Private estate/hotel/museum experience
  • Experience working in High Rise Building

  • Physical demands: Extensive standing, walking, bending and heavy lifting. Occasional desktop computer work. Driving of personal vehicles required to various locations. 
  • Work environment: Outdoor setting, rough terrain. Occasional office/cubical setting work.  Noise level is moderate to loud.
  • Travel: 25% travel required, often on short notice.
  • General sign-off: The employee is expected to adhere to and ensure compliance with all relevant OSHA safety regulations for all facility personnel; as well as all company policies, and to act as a role model in adherence to policies.
