We are partnering with a well-established, Boston-based single-family office to place an Accounts Payable Specialist on their finance and accounting team. This is a close-knit, high-trust environment that values discretion, precision, and people who take pride in doing things right. The team is small by design, collaborative by nature, and the work they do touches meaningful philanthropic and investment operations.

Reporting to the VP of Finance and Accounting, the Accounts Payable Specialist plays a hands-on role in keeping the financial operations of a multi-entity organization running smoothly. This is the kind of position where the details matter, the relationships matter, and your reliability is felt across the entire team. This is a full-time, exempt position that reports directly to the VP of Finance and Accounting. Travel is minimal at 0–5%. The role operates on a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the Boston office, with the expectation of additional in-office time during the onboarding period.

What You'll Do

Accounts Payable

• Process vendor invoices, expense reimbursements, and recurring payments accurately and on time
• Match invoices to contracts, approvals, and supporting documentation
• Prepare and process payments via check, ACH, wire, and credit card
• Maintain organized, audit-ready AP records

Vendor & Stakeholder Support

• Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors on invoicing, payment status, and discrepancies
• Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and keep payment workflows running smoothly
• Communicate with professionalism and a genuine service mindset

Compliance & Close Support

• Uphold internal controls, approval workflows, and confidentiality standards
• Support month-end close activities and assist with audits, tax prep, and financial reviews

Systems & Process

• Work within Sage Intacct (Ignite) to manage AP transactions and vendor records
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and documentation over time

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of accounts payable experience in a professional, high-trust environment — family office or private office experience is a plus
• 5+ years working with Sage Intacct (Ignite) or a comparable platform
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and reconciliations
• Strong grasp of AP best practices, internal controls, and accounting fundamentals
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• High degree of discretion, integrity, and attention to detail — this goes without saying, but it really matters here
• Clear communicator who is proactive, organized, and follows through
• Within a commutable distance to Boston, MA

Compensation and Benefits

• $85,000–$100,000 base salary
