Housekeeper

Palo Alto, CA (relocating to Menlo Park, CA)

Part-Time · W-2 Employment · Bay Area Candidates Only

POSITION OVERVIEW

Our client, an executive couple, has just launched their search for a skilled, trustworthy Housekeeper. The family is based in Palo Alto and will be transitioning to a new home in Menlo Park in the coming months. There are no children or pets in the household. This role calls for someone who is highly detail-oriented, quietly professional, and takes genuine satisfaction in maintaining a beautifully kept private residence.

The ideal candidate understands the standards of a high-caliber private home and brings consistency, initiative, and discretion to everything they do. You will be an important part of a small, dedicated household team, and your contribution will be felt every day.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all daily and deep-cleaning duties throughout the residence to a consistently high standard
  • Manage laundry and fine fabric care — including washing, pressing, folding, and the proper care of delicate and luxury items
  • Change and make beds with precision; maintain all linens and bedding in excellent condition
  • Organize and maintain closets, storage areas, and household systems to a tidy, logical standard
  • Care for interior surfaces, furnishings, and decorative objects with appropriate products and methods
  • Conduct regular household inventory for cleaning and household supplies; coordinate replenishment
  • Assist with the physical organization and setup of the new Menlo Park home during the upcoming relocation
  • Accept and organize deliveries, packages, and household orders
  • Run household errands as needed — including dry cleaning drop-off and pick-up, supply runs, and similar tasks
  • Light wardrobe management and seasonal clothing rotation
  • Coordinate with service vendors (maintenance, repairs, deliveries) as directed
  • Support the household during occasional private events — assisting with setup, service, and breakdown
  • Communicate any household maintenance concerns or needs promptly to the principals
  • Clean up related to the family’s cat

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • $50-65 per hour, commensurate with experience
  • W-2 employment
  • Paid sick leave and accrued paid vacation
  • Access to a company retirement plan
  • Annual performance-based discretionary bonus
  • Annual wage review
  • Paid trial period for qualified finalists

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a local Bay Area resident — no relocation candidates
  • Prior experience in a private household, estate, or luxury residence required
  • Knowledge of proper care for fine furnishings, luxury fabrics, and high-end surfaces
  • Strong organizational skills and an eye for detail that doesn't miss a thing
  • Reliable, punctual, and consistent — someone the principals can count on
  • Warm, professional, and discreet — comfortable working in a private home with respect for personal space and confidentiality
  • Willingness to undergo an in-depth background investigation
  • Strong, verifiable references from previous private household employers
  • Non-smoker / no vaping
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Must love cats! No cat allergies, please

  • Ability to reach overhead and into lower storage areas for cleaning and organizing
  • Manual dexterity for delicate tasks including fine fabric care, dusting, and detail cleaning
  • Comfortable using standard household cleaning equipment — including vacuums, mops, steam cleaners, and similar tools
  • Ability to climb a step stool or small ladder as needed for high surfaces and windows
  • Physical stamina to maintain a high standard of work across full-day shifts
