Housekeeper
A private estate in the Washington, DC area is seeking a skilled, dedicated Housekeeper to join a collaborative housekeeping team within a beautifully maintained private residence. This is a hands-on housekeeping role reporting directly to the Lead Housekeeper, and is well-suited for someone who takes genuine pride in their work, follows direction well, and holds themselves to a high standard of cleanliness and care. The goal of this hire is simple: to build a housekeeping team that genuinely cares about the work they do, finds satisfaction in doing it well, and is sincerely invested in supporting the principal in maintaining a beautiful, well-kept home. The right person is reliable, detail-oriented, and understands the rhythm and professionalism expected in a high-end private home.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough, detail-oriented housekeeping throughout the residence including all bedrooms, bathrooms, common areas, kitchens, and living spaces
- Follow established housekeeping routines, checklists, and standards as directed by the Lead Housekeeper
- Care for fine furnishings, fabrics, surfaces, and materials with the appropriate products and techniques
- Assist with laundry, linen management, and wardrobe care as needed
- Maintain organization throughout household storage areas, closets, and utility spaces
- Receive and follow instruction clearly and consistently, and communicate openly with the Lead Housekeeper regarding any issues or needs
- Work collaboratively and respectfully alongside fellow housekeeping team members
- Adapt to the household's routines and priorities as they shift from day to day
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of housekeeping experience in a private residential setting required
- Must be local to the Washington, DC area
- Genuine attention to detail and a high personal standard of cleanliness and care
- Ability to follow detailed instruction and maintain consistent quality across all tasks
- Knowledge of appropriate cleaning products and techniques for high-end surfaces, fabrics, and furnishings
- Collaborative, team-oriented, and professional in demeanor
- Reliable, punctual, and takes pride in showing up fully prepared to do the work well
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, able to pass a background check, and provide professional references from prior private household employers
Compensation
- $46+ per hour; eligible for OT
- Discretionary bonus
