Full-Time Educational Nanny

Menlo Park, California

Overview

A loving, dedicated Bay Area family is seeking a long-term, highly engaged, and confident Full-Time, Live-Out Educational Nanny to join their household as a true parenting partner in the hands-on care of their active, intellectually curious two-year-old son. They are planning to grow their family this year and would like to bring the right professional on board before that, both to bond with their son now and to transition smoothly into caring for a toddler and a newborn together in the months ahead.

This is a deeply collaborative “shared care” role, working closely alongside an involved mother. The family takes parenting seriously, practicing a gentle but boundaried approach that leans into their child’s passions. They are looking for an exceptional caregiver who sees childcare as a respected career, takes child development seriously, and hopes to grow with the family for many years to come.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The person who will thrive in this role is comfortable collaborating and working alongside other adults, perhaps as a former co-teacher. Because the position is so collaborative, excellent communication and the confidence to share ideas and take the lead are essential. This is not a “mother’s helper” role but rather one for a candidate confident in taking the lead.

A background in early childhood education, teaching, or specialized childhood training is not required, though it will be given priority. The family is looking for someone with a genuine love for children and their developing minds, who is ready to be fully present and active for hours at a time with a child who thrives on interaction. A real understanding of gentle, boundaried parenting philosophies, ones that center emotional security and conversation, will matter a great deal.

  •      In the future, have the ability to prepare for and transition smoothly into newborn care alongside Mom and a postpartum doula during the early months, eventually caring for both a toddler and an infant.
  •     Keep the playroom and children’s spaces fully organized, including thoughtful toy rotations and ongoing projects.
  •     Maintain a warm, collaborative relationship with Mom and the full-time Housekeeper so the household runs smoothly and feels calm and well managed.

  •     Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  •     Open to candidates presently local to the Bay Area only.

  •     A minimum of five years of childcare experience, with the bulk of that time spent caring for toddlers and infants, and a deep understanding of early childhood developmental milestones, whether as a nanny or as an early childhood teacher with strong references.
  •     Excellent English communication skills, with strong verbal engagement to support the child’s growing vocabulary and cognitive development.
  •     Genuine enjoyment of a collaborative environment, working as a co-partner in childrearing.
  •     Cat-friendly, with no allergies.
  •     No smoking or vaping.
