Overview

Nanny | Family Assistant
Brooklyn, NY | Full-Time

A warm, growing Brooklyn family is looking for an experienced Nanny to join their home and grow with them over the years ahead. With a toddler and a new baby on the way, they want someone who is wonderful with children and understands the difference between keeping them busy and truly caring for them: someone who knows developmental stages, holds gentle and consistent boundaries, and helps bring structure and rhythm to the home.

This is first and foremost a Nanny role. The childcare load will be significant, especially in the early years, and the family isn’t looking for one person to also carry a full house management function. The household side is more of a mindset. When the kids are taken care of or there’s downtime, they’d love someone who naturally pitches in, whether that’s tidying up, prepping a meal, or letting in a vendor, without needing to be asked. The family works as a team: if the parents are cooking, you’re with the children, and if you’re cooking, they are. Once the newborn arrives, you’ll support mom through those important milestones and moments.

Schedule
Monday through Friday, approximately 8am-4pm, with some room to flex to 6pm when requested. Occasional Saturdays and one weekly date night. The family is willing to build the schedule around the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engaged, developmentally appropriate care for a toddler and newborn
  • Provide morning support to mom and the kids
  • Build and maintain consistent routines and help create structure in the home
  • Drive or accompany children to and from activities
  • Support mom with the newborn, including being supportive of breastfeeding
  • Prepare meals for the children and help with family meal prep when time allows
  • Handle the children’s laundry and keep their spaces and common areas tidy
  • Pitch in around the home during downtime, including opening the house for vendors
  • Manage dinner, bath, and bedtime routines when requested
  • Stay for a parents’ date night, ideally once a week
  • Help on occasional Saturdays as needed
  • Take on light household projects when the family travels
  • Travel with the family occasionally (welcome but not required)

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional Nanny experience, including newborns and toddlers
  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Within a commutable distance to Brooklyn (no out of area candidates will be considered)
  • Open to travel
  • Comfortable with evening hours and occasional weekend help
  • Solid understanding of child development and age-appropriate boundaries
  • Warm, gentle, empathetic, and mature
  • Proactive and naturally helpful around the home without needing direction
  • Flexible by nature and open to a role that will evolve as the family grows
  • Interested in a long-term position and in truly getting to know the family
  • CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
  • Up-to-date on all vaccinations related to infant care: recent Tdap, Covid-19, influenza, and immunity from recent or childhood inoculations of common vaccines: MMR, Varicella, and Hepatitis B
  • Strong references from prior private families

  • $45 to $50 per hour | depending on experience
  • 40 guaranteed hours per week
