BACKGROUND

A young family is excited to welcome their baby in December and is seeking a caring Nanny who is highly-experienced with newborns, infants, and toddlers to grow with their family over the years! Their ideal candidate is someone who can provide steady guidance, advising them on what is best for their infant’s environment, including developmentally appropriate materials, feeding, sleeping, and routines as the baby grows. They are fortunate to have two additional young children who split their time between another household. While the older children are present during some weekends, the focus of this role is primarily for the newborn, with the exception of several days per month, providing care in tandem with the parents.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

This role is perfect for an experienced, warm and nurturing newborn-experienced Nanny who has a strong level of specialization and knowledge of the early newborn stage and transitions through infancy to toddlerhood.  The ideal infant Nanny will instinctively know the delicate balance between aiding eager new parents while fully taking the lead, yet stepping back to allow family time to occur. Experience with similar fully-staffed homes is a strong plus, as is the ability to make vital recommendations on the most beneficial items to secure.  This is not an entry level position – years of experience within the domestic realm are required, as are stellar references that will speak to your personal style of care and your ability to work in tandem with other adults toward the goal of providing the best possible environment.

LOGISTICS

The family is also hiring a Newborn Care Specialist to work a contract between 4-6 months total (to be determined). This particular role will initially start as a Monday-Friday position while the NCS is under contract. The schedule is anticipated to be between 9am–7pm each day, a few hours of which will be in tandem with the NCS after their rest time concludes.

Once the NCS' contract is completed in Spring 2027, the family will discuss together what long-term schedule works best for all parties, should they hire another nanny at that time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide full charge care of the newborn, and occasional care of two children under 5 a few times a month, typically in tandem with one or both of the parents
  • Exercise superior communication to ensure a smooth handoff of care
  • Help with infant’s laundry and bottle washing, and basic tidying of child’s areas
  • Regularly travel to their home in Napa several times a month
  • Demonstrate a high level of discretion, professionalism, and willingness to grow with the family through the child’s developmental stages
  • Plan and execute activities that are developmentally appropriate for the newborn stage in the immediate, and with time, in infancy, toddlerhood and beyond
  • Manage and purchase inventory as needed with time, changing out the infant’s clothing, socks, sleep sacks, blankets, etc.
  • Keep personal sleeping areas in good order

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current active passport and valid driver’s license
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a thorough background check
  • Must relocate or presently live-out in the Bay Area (a relocation package and temporary housing can be provided if needed)
  • Must have at least 5 years of full-time professional experience working in a private home with infants with references
  • Must have experience with newborns (under 12 weeks old), and demonstrate a solid understanding of their care
  • Must have stellar references from several previous nanny roles
  • Ability to work with a cat in the home (no allergies)
  • Have the ability to travel multiple times a month to Napa, and internationally
  • Must sign and adhere to a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement
  • Up-to-date on all vaccinations related to infant care: recent Tdap, Covid-19, influenza, and immunity from recent or childhood inoculations of common vaccines: MMR, Varicella, and Hepatitis B
