Weekend Private Chef — Los Angeles, CA

Our fantastic repeat client based in Los Angeles, California is seeking an experienced, adaptable Weekend Chef to join their household team. This is a new property with a growing entertaining schedule, and the family is looking for a Chef who can bring consistency, creativity, and warmth to their weekends, while easily adjusting to last-minute changes and dinner parties. They're looking for a Chef who can move comfortably across a range of cuisines and culinary adventures – California farm to table meals with an emphasis on what’s in season, French simple bistro food, bbq family meals and pizza making. 

Schedule

Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, covering lunch (12pm) and dinner (5pm), with dinner shifting to 6 or 7pm on party nights.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare healthy, family-style lunches and dinners for the family, with menus submitted for approval ahead of each weekend
• Prepare a special modified Paleo plate for one family member as needed
• Shop the Saturday farmers market for fresh, seasonal ingredients
• Manage additional grocery shopping as needed
• Cook for and help coordinate dinner parties ranging from 4 to 16 guests, including shifting to plated service when appropriate
• Help source and coordinate additional event staff (servers, bartenders, sous chefs) for larger gatherings
• Work collaboratively with the rest of the household staff
• Stay attentive to the family's evolving tastes, preferences, and favorite dishes over time

Ideal Candidate

• 3+ years of Personal Chef experience preferred
• Low-key, adaptable, and comfortable with last-minute changes or requests
• A true team player who works well within a close-knit household staff
• Positive, proactive, responsive, and willing to go beyond the basic job description
• Creative and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through
• Self-sufficient and reliable, someone the family can count on
• Comfortable both interacting with the family and working quietly in the background, as the moment calls for
• Experience cooking Indian cuisine is a strong plus, along with comfort preparing globally inspired meals (Mexican, Italian, Asian) 
• Comfortable cooking paleo-friendly meals; familiarity with common dietary preferences and restrictions
• Well-connected within the private service community, with contacts for staffing larger events
• Legally authorized to work in the US
• Within a commutable distance to Los Angeles; out of area candidates will not be considered

Compensation and Details

• $90-$110 per hour | DOE
• Guaranteed hours
